Strength Against Temptation
This prayer calls on God’s power to resist sin, overcome weakness, and stand firm in holiness when trials and temptations arise.
Gracious Father, I know the battles I face each day. Some temptations are loud and obvious, while others creep in quietly, trying to draw my heart away from You. I confess that in my own strength I am weak, but in You, I am strong.
Lord, Your Word promises that no temptation will overtake me except what is common to man, and You are faithful to provide a way of escape. Today I ask for that strength. Give me the courage to turn away quickly from sin, to recognize the enemy’s lies, and to cling to Your truth. When my heart feels pulled by desires that do not honor You, remind me that You have called me to holiness.
Fill me with Your Spirit so that I may resist and stand firm. Teach me to guard my thoughts, my words, and my actions, so that nothing gains control over me except Your love. Lord, when I stumble, do not let shame keep me from running back to You. Remind me that Your grace is greater than my weakness and that through the cross, I have victory. Help me to replace every destructive desire with a hunger for righteousness and every harmful habit with a passion for serving You.
Surround me with people who will hold me accountable and lift me up in prayer. Let my life be a testimony that Your power is greater than any temptation.
I stand on Your promises, Lord, and I trust You to keep me strong.
